Trials and Speed Trials

Max Schulze

Unicyclist for 17 years

Why did you join the Unicon 21 team?   I want to make really hard trials obstacles for the world's best unicycle trials riders! Also, I was born in Minnesota and it's a good chance to go back and to ride with old friends and make new friends!

Favorite unicycle activities:  Trials, Street, Muni, Flatland

Owen Farmer

I’m joining the UNICON team because unicycling has given so much to me over the years and I am hoping to inspire the next generation of riders.

I mostly ride muni, as well as the occasional unipacking tour or trials ride.

Cyclocross

Dave Krack

Unicycling since 2005 (or was it '04?)

Why did you join the Unicon 21 team?

It all started with Ride the Lobster in 2008. We (Lisa and I) have been attending unicycling conventions ever since. In 2013 we hosted NAUCC and debuted Cyclocross (CX), which was then picked up for Unicon 17. I'd been racing a uni in local MTB/CX races since 2008. Uni CX is a great event for participants and spectators, so it makes sense to be involved with organizing it!

Favorite unicycling activities:

CX, XC Muni, Road Racing, and sharing the fun of one with free-to-the-public classes at our local Y.

Marin Cohan

How long have you been unicycling? 15 years

Why did you join the U21 team?

Unicycling has always been one of my favorite activities, especially because of the people I have met through it. I wanted to join the Unicon team to help create an event that facilitates fun and socialization amongst riders all over the world. I wanted to give back to a community that has provided me with so many friends and smiles over the years so that everyone can share that joy.

Favorite unicycle activities?

My favorite unicycle activities are cyclocross, muni, and freestyle but I also love the social aspect of unicycling. Teaching, learning, and laughing with new and experienced riders of all ages!

Hockey

Sam Watson

Unicyclist for 18 years

Why did you join the Unicon 21 team? To help spread Unicycle Hockey to different communities around the world.

Favorite unicycle activities: hockey

Steven Hughes

I am Australian and have been riding for 10 years. I am heavily involved in our national championships and hockey league as well as the international rulebook committee for hockey and urban events. I would like to set up a hockey event that has good communication from the outset to assist with smooth running of the tournaments.

X-Style

Dani Chevalier

Unicyclist for 18 years

Why did you join the Unicon 21 team? I joined the Unicon team because unicycling was and is such a huge part of my life and who I am today; my best friends, husband, and even my new hobbies I owe all to Unicycling! I’m honored to be able to give back to the community and volunteer for Unicon this year, especially since it is in my lovely birth place/state of Minnesota.

Favorite unicycle activities: I started as a freestyle unicyclist, but in the more recent years have transitioned into flatland/flatstyle. I also enjoy the social aspect of unicycling!

Freestyle

Greta Koehler

Director

I’ve been unicycling for 15 years. I joined the U21 team because I was co-director for freestyle at Unicon 20 and I really enjoyed that experience. Also, I am so excited for Unicon to be in my home state of Minnesota! My favorite type of unicycling is freestyle, but I’ve gotten more into road riding and muni in the last few years.

Patricia Wilton

Unicyclist for 18 years.

I joined the Unicon Team because I am passionate about providing opportunities for young people to make international connections through the sport that we all love. I was also the Freestyle Director at Unicon in 2014 & 2016 and excited to direct again in my home country.

I enjoy freestyle, long distance riding, and muni but mostly now I love coaching the youth teams for my club.

Rachel Sindelar

Chief Judge

Unicyclist for 18 years

I joined the Unicon team because I love the unicycle community and have so much fun working with the team of directors. I’m excited to be able to give back to such a wonderful, supporting group of people! I was born and raised in Minnesota, and I can’t wait to show everyone how beautiful the state is!

I enjoy freestyle and muni, but mostly I enjoy spending time with unicycle friends, old and new!

I started unicycling with my children in 2008 and have been riding ever since.

Why did you join the Unicon 21 team? I am joining the Unicon 21 team in Minnesota to help competitors and spectators have an incredibly fun experience in the beautiful Northwoods of the Midwestern United States.

Favorite unicycle activities: My favorite unicycle activity is Mountain Unicycling followed closely by teaching 5 year olds how to ride unicycles.

George Smith

I have been unicycling for over 19 years. Being part of the unicycling community has been a great experience to meet friends and participate in competitions, club events, and other unicycling activities. I decided to join the Unicon 21 Team so I can give back to the unicycling community after many years of being a spectator and competitor. Mountain Unicycling is my favorite unicycle activity.

Track

Jan Vocke

Unicyclist for over 20 years - I don't know when exactly I stared unicycling :D

I love unicycling and the unicycling community. I have been part of so may great unicycle events and I'm happy to be part of making these great events possible. I have been track racer for a very long time, but right know I focus more on organizing these events.

My favorite unicycle activity is Mountain Unicycling, because I love being in the mountains.

Lars Vocke

Unicyclist for over 20 years - I don't know when exactly I stared unicycling

Why did you join the U21 team?

Some time ago we started to develop our own false start monitoring system. We were able to use it for the first time at a UNICON in France. After we received a lot of positive feedback. We were asked if we could also make our expertise available to Union 21. And we are very happy to do so!

Favorite unicycle activities?

Until I started working, I trained in a club and raced in many track competitions. I no longer train regularly. I still attend many competitions, but mostly to support the organizers. Riding a Muni is by far the most fun for me at the moment.

Basketball

Gaby Pompa Valdez

I've been unicycling for 11 years.

I join the U21 team because I love helping to develop unicycle-basketball in France and I wanted to help in Unicon 21!

Unicycle Basketball! But all of the activities are so impressive!

Cyril Ravet

I discovered the unicycle 27 years ago. I joined the U21 team to bring my skills to the organization of such an event. I practice a lot of disciplines, but my favorite is basketball

Street & Flatland

Ian Dylewski

Flatland unicyclist for 13 years. Full time unicycling coach for 10 years.

Why did you join the Unicon 21 team?

I'm always trying to promote unicycling, grow the sport and make it more professional. Helping to organize the best world championships possible seemed to make sense. Also, the unicycling community is the best group of people I have met in any sport, so I enjoy offering them great competitions.

Favorite unicycle activities:

Flatland, Coaching

Mark Fabian

I started unicycling in 2005 as a way to improve my balance while I save up for a trials bike. Plans changed slightly, the trials part remained, but since I fell in love with unicycling I decided to chase it with one wheel. I believe it was one of the best decisions in my life.

I joined the Unicon team as a co-Event Director for Street and Flatland. I am a Trials rider by my heart, but I enjoy organising these events. This is going to be my 3rd Unicon co-event directing these events.

My favourite unicycle activities are riding trials and being with my uni friends. Best is both at the same time.
